Epiphone casino elitist guitar center11/23/2023 ![]() Access on 16th fret models up to the 18th fret or so is fine, but getting past the top of the pickguard is hard work. Neck joins: vintage was 16 frets to the body (19 from late '67), Korean and most older Japanese was 17 frets to the body, modern 330s are mainly 16 with a few runs of 19 fret models, and Chinese seem to be 16. I've only played one RI 330 but it was a stunner, very close to the feel of a vintage one. There are a few upgraded ones with US hardware (the Lennon one, the 61RI) that get a lot closer to the sound. They're ok, they get you in the ball park if you want to stick a toe in the water and they're good value for what they are, but they feel like a budget guitar to me and nowhere near the experience of playing an original. I see the Chinese Casinos from time to time when they pass through our repair shop. The Elitist felt pretty much identical to my 1965 330 in terms of neck profile. ![]() The pickups in the Pre-Elitist were pretty bland, a bit like the Korean Epiphone P90s of the era, but the Elitist I thought sounded better. ![]() Poly finish aside, I don't think there's much between Tereda and Gibson. The build quality from Tereda is exceptional. I have a couple of vintage ES330s, I had a pre-Elitist but still Tereda built 90s Casino and a friend has an Elitist. ![]()
